Arian wanted to do something no one had done before. He wanted to take Calibri—that smooth, democratic, humanist sans-serif—and teach it to speak Kurdish.

Over the years, Microsoft expanded the Windows Glyph List (WGL) and updated its core fonts to meet global standards. Subsequent updates to the Calibri font family introduced broader support for the Arabic script, which inherently covered basic Persian and Urdu characters as well.
