The story follows the eccentric and reclusive Dr. John Dolittle, a famed veterinarian living in Victorian England who possesses the unique ability to talk to animals. After losing his wife seven years prior, Dolittle hides behind the walls of his manor, accompanied only by his menagerie of exotic animal friends. However, his peaceful solitude is shattered when a young Queen Victoria (played by Jessie Buckley) falls gravely ill.
